Elizabeth Walker (flute) and Richard Shaw (piano)
Elizabeth and Richard present a programme performed on Elizabeth’s wooden flute, made in the 1960s by the Flutemakers Guild. They highlight music for flute and piano that links to the exhibition ‘Home and The World’. British twentieth-century composers such as Lennox Berkeley, Sadie Harrison, Rhian Samuel and Celia McDowall conjure both mood and landscape, and are juxtaposed with other characterful portrayals of ‘home’ from the Hungarian Dohnányi and the wonderful Russian composer (now living in Britain), Elena Firsova.
